خصائص المنتج

Orthodontic sliding hooks are versatile components of braces and orthodontic appliances that facilitate controlled tooth movement, primarily used for canine retraction and molar distalization via sliding mechanics. These hooks allow orthodontists to attach elastics, elastic chains, or coil springs to deliver precise forces, enabling efficient space closure and reducing friction compared to some conventional methods. They are particularly useful for complex cases and can be fabricated for optimal efficiency and to facilitate enhanced force delivery near the tooth's center of resistance.
Key Uses and Benefits
  • Canine Retraction:
The hook slides along the main archwire, allowing elastics or chains to pull the canine backward to relieve crowding or close gaps.
  • Molar Distalization:
For molar movement, the hook is placed over the archwire to apply force, often via a coil spring, to move the molar backward.
  • Friction Reduction:
Modern sliding hooks are designed to minimize the friction encountered during sliding mechanics, which can significantly reduce the force available for effective tooth movement.
  • Precise Force Application:
They help approximate the force vector to the tooth's center of resistance, providing better mechanical control for more efficient and bodily tooth movement.
  • Versatility:
The hook's ability to attach various elastic components like chains, springs, or elastics offers flexibility in force delivery.
  • Time and Cost Savings:
Prefabricated "smart" sliding hooks reduce chair time and fabrication costs for orthodontists.
  • Improved Oral Hygiene:
Some hook designs may reduce plaque accumulation and simplify cleaning compared to certain traditional methods.
How They Work
  1. Placement: The hook is positioned over the main archwire at the desired location.
  2. Activation: Forces are delivered by attaching elastics, elastomeric chains, or coil springs between the hook and another tooth or mini-implant.
  3. Movement: As the elastic or spring contracts, it creates traction, pulling the tooth along the archwire.
In essence, a sliding hook acts as a movable point on the archwire to which forces can be attached, enabling controlled and efficient tooth movement within the complex mechanics of orthodontic treatment.
